I am Manasi, a Yoga Alliance certified (RYS 200) yoga teacher from India. Having worked in the film industry in Mumbai and Los Angeles for almost a decade, being a mother of 3 young boys and a long distance runner, I understand the importance of strength, flexibitlity , grace and above all patience.
Yoga truly brings about a balance in body, mind and spirit. The more you practice, the more you become enlightened by your abilities and the miracles of your unique body.
I teach the traditional practice of Hatha Yoga – Asanas, Pranayama & Meditation to bring about a balance in body, mind & soul. I conduct my classes in the La Côte region of Switzerland.
Yoga Asanas
In the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali there is a concise definition of yoga asanas: “ sthiram sukham aasanam” meaning, that position which is comfortable and steady. Asanas are practiced to develop the ability to sit comfortably in one position for an extended period of time, an ability necessary for meditation.
Regular practice of yoga asanas integrates and harmonizes the body and the mind. Yoga asanas maintain the physical body in an optimum condition and promotes good health even in an unhealthy body.
Pranayama
Pranayama is derived from 2 sanskrit words, “Prana” and “Ayama” , where prana means energy and ayama means elongation or lengthen.Together it means the elongation of pranic energy . With pranayama you can train yourself to breathe more slowly and more deeply. Slowing down the heart rate as more oxygen can be pumped even with less number of breaths. It reduces the wear and tear of internal organs, lowers blood pressure, reduces body tensions and quietens the nerves.
Meditation
These stories explain the meaning of yoga better than any other form of expostulation.
Buddha was asked “what have you gained from meditation?”
He replied, ”Nothing.”
However, Buddha said, let me tell you what I lost: "Anger, Anxiety, Depression, Insecurity, Fear of old age and death."
There are many things in life that are beyond our control. However, it is possible to take responsibility for our own states of mind – and to change them for the better. Meditation is a means of transforming the mind. Meditation practices are techniques that encourage and develop concentration, clarity, emotional positivity, and a calm seeing of the true nature of things. By engaging with a particular meditation practice you learn the patterns and habits of your mind, and the practice offers a means to cultivate new, more positive ways of being.
